About the volunteering opportunity
Do you enjoy cooking, would you like to volunteer for senior citizens and enrich our team interculturally? Then get in touch with us!
Food is a common denominator for all people, and yet there is an incredible variety of recipes, dishes and delicacies. We want to discover this together during intercultural cooking! People from different cultural backgrounds and senior citizens cook and eat several times a month (always on a Saturday) at the "Alten- und Servicezentrum" either in Lehel, Maxvorstadt or Riem.
Dishes are prepared from the various regions of origin of the cooks. Cooking and eating together gives the volunteers the opportunity to speak German together in a relaxed atmosphere, while the senior citizens get to talk to people from different cultural backgrounds and enjoy international dishes. Encounters are created and intercultural exchange is encouraged - but above all, of course, fun is a must!
Your Tasks
Possible volunteer activities can be, for example:
- Choosing the dishes to be cooked
- Creating ingredient and shopping lists
- Shopping together
- Preparing the dishes together
- Organizing the food distribution
- Intercultural program for seniors (presenting the recipes, home region etc., intercultural games)
- Public relations work for the project
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity you don't need any German skills.
- Enjoyment in dealing with people (elderly people, people with refugee/migration background)

On weekends, during the day
The volunteer team meets on two or three Saturdays a month from 9.00 am to approx. 3.30 pm. The dates are set in advance.

The Red Cross rescues people, helps in emergencies, provides a community, stands by socially disadvantaged people and watches over international humanitarian law - in Germany and around the world.
The BRK-Kreisverband München works in this sense and is there where other people need help and support.
