About the volunteering opportunity
Strassenfeger offers a "social brunch" at Oderberger Str. 12 in Berlin Pankow. Homeless people can get free food and drink, toiletries and clothing as well as low-threshold social counseling every Thursday from 12 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the local neighbourhood store.
Your Tasks
We are looking for volunteers to help out at our "Social Brunch". Tasks include:
- Preparation and follow-up of the "Social Brunch"
- Admission and supply of the guests
- Food and clothing distribution
- Supply of hygiene articles
- Telephone consultation
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
- Experience as a social assistant or in working with homeless people would be desirable.
- For reasons of parity, helpers should be between 27 and 58 years old.
- They should be motivated to support homeless people in receiving basic care in a humane manner. In addition, friendly and respectful interaction with guests is expected.
- A good knowledge of German is a prerequisite.

Strassenfeger e.V. has been helping homeless and poor people for over 25 years. The projects include a year-round emergency overnight stay for men and women, a weekly "social brunch" in the neighborhood store at Oderberger Str.12, the street magazine 'MAG', which is sold by homeless people (half of the proceeds go to the seller) and our 'social rental house' at Oderberger Str.12.
