About the volunteering opportunity
In the project Education Sponsorships, volunteer sponsors are placed with children and young people with migration and refugee experience and are accompanied competently and professionally by the coordinators of the project. The goal is to support the children and young people in school issues and to be a contact person.
Your Tasks
Volunteers...
- ... support children and young people with migration and refugee experience over a longer period of time 1 time per week for 2 hours.
- ... accompany and support children and adolescents according to their needs, interests and strengths.
- ... repeat learning material individually, help with homework, learn the German language together and, if necessary, provide support in the search for an internship, job application or training and career orientation.
- ... support children, young people and their families in arriving in Dresden.
- ... enable extracurricular educational experiences.
What's needed
Anyone and everyone who has the desire to work with children or young people is welcome.
A certificafe of good conduct is required.
Time required
As a rule, your meetings will take place once a week for 2h and that for at least 6 months.

The Ausländerrat Dresden e.V. has been working for the rights and interests of people with migration and refugee experience in Dresden since 1990. The goal of its work is to promote social cohesion and strengthen the cultural, social and political participation of migrants and their self-representation.
In the project "Bildungspatenschaften" (educational mentorships), volunteer mentors are placed with children and young people with migration and refugee experience and are provided with competent and professional support. The goal is to support the children and young people in school issues and to be a contact person.
