Social counseling - Assist refugees and anyone in need of support with their everyday problems

We offer a meeting point for people with a newcomer / migration backround, where we support them in their orientation in Germany.

The offers include in particular support in:

• Dealing with authorities (social welfare office, job center, etc.).)

• Understanding and filing documents

• Filling out applications

• Accompanying to authorities and doctors

• Translating documents

• Finding schools/tutoring

We have translators for Arabic, English and French. On request also Farsi, Kurdish, Albanian and Serbian.

We are looking for volunteers that support with the following tasks:

• Accompaniment during visits to authorities (social welfare office, job center, etc.)
• Search for and accompaniment to doctors
• Screening and organizing documents
• Providing information material
• Filling out forms/explaining letters
• Translation assistance
• Searching for schools

Knowledge of the subject matter is helpful but not necessary. Most important is the joy and willingness to deal with the subject during the consultation.
The consultation never takes place by yourself.

At the same time there is a legal consultation with lawyers, who can be consulted at any time in case of ambiguity.

We meet every Sunday from 15 - 17 o'clock in the Café International (Werkstattstraße 7, 50733 Cologne) and by appointment.

Each person can choose the time frame they want to volunteer in by him/herself.

If you are interested in volunteering, an extended certificate of good conduct must be applied for, free of charge.
