AbilityAid offers a free counseling service for people with disabilities and a newcomer or migration background. In addition, inclusive computer courses (Word, Excel, Internet) and German exercise courses are offered. The aim is to support refugees with disabilities in their integration process.
During the mentoring sessions, you help your mentee, for example, with reading and writing practice (for illiterates), with German practice, with finding an inclusive or curative kindergarten or school, with applications (severely disabled pass or care degree) or with other challenges of everyday life. The time required for this is about 2 hours per week, ideally for at least 3 months. The individual goals of the mentoring will be individually defined and discussed with you in the beginning.
You should take part in a three-hour introductory qualification course (in the form of a webinar) and you have the opportunity to attend free training courses at the ArrivalAid Academy. For your commitment as a mentor, you should have the time and motivation to accompany your mentee for about two hours per week for three months.
The mentoring is intended for a period of 3 months.
