About the volunteering opportunity
Doctors of the World is the German section of the international humanitarian organization Médecins du Monde/Doctors of the World. Doctors of the World is committed to ensuring that all people everywhere can assert their right to health - with medical aid and political work.
In the open.med Lichtenberg Berlin project, we advise and care for people without health insurance or difficult access to the health care system within the framework of consultation hours. The majority of our patients belong to vulnerable groups. In addition to medical care, we support these people with socio-legal and psychosocial counseling. The main goal of the project is the (re)integration of the patients into the regular health care system.
From May 2023 we offer 2x weekly general medical consultation and 1x monthly gynecological/pediatric consultation. You should be available for a consultation 1-2x monthly.
Your Tasks
For the further treatment of our patients we are looking for:
- Physiotherapists
- Ergotherapists
as well as specialists in the fields
- Cardiology
- Urology
- Dentistry
- Dermatology
- Gastroenterology
Contact and appointments can only be made through open.med employees. You can decide yourself how often you would like to support us.
What's needed
- You are a physiotherapist or occupational therapist* or a specialist in cardiology, urology, dentistry, dermatology or gastroenterology and have professional experience.
- You have the opportunity to continue treating patients in your own practice or clinic free of charge or at a lower cost.
Time required
Contact and appointments can only be made through open.med employees. You can decide yourself how often you would like to support us.
