About the volunteering opportunity
We accompany people with migration and refugee experience to the neighborhood garden in the Schwerin - Großer Dreesch district. There we garden in the community bed, mediate with language problems, plant vegetables and spend a good time outside in the garden. We exchange ideas about flowers, vegetables and plants from our home countries, drink tea together and later enjoy the shared harvest.
Your Tasks
The group meets Wednesdays, 3 pm at Keplerplatz and is to be accompanied to the community garden (200m). There we garden together in the community bed and take care of plants and vegetables. The committed thereby mediate on a linguistic level, promote the exchange in the group and ideally bring gardening knowledge with them.
What's needed
- Have regular and reliable time available
- Understand and be tolerant of other people's life situations
- Be empathetic and open-minded
- Desirable: Attend regular group meetings
- Gardening knowledge and multilingualism are an advantage, but not a requirement
Time required
In addition to the weekly events (approx. 2h), group evenings are held at regular intervals to promote the exchange of volunteers, train you further and give you security for your volunteer service.
Even if you only have time in the 2-weekly rhythm, we are happy about your voluntary commitment!
Important notice
Volunteer service takes place outside in the garden, a healthy amount of weather resistance is an advantage.
