About the volunteering opportunity
We bring you together with people with a migration and/or refugee background who want to find their way in their new home in Munich. Most of them are housed in municipal facilities due to the tight rental market in Munich. They would like to get to know Munich better, learn to speak German better, organize their lives well and do things together.
Your Tasks
At BiP, you accompany the sponsors in everyday life. Whether it's an afternoon chat over a coffee, going to the playground with the children, sorting documents, filling out forms, going to the cinema or museum together, helping with school issues - many things are possible. You discuss the exact tasks with your sponsor or clarify interests during the initial interview for a suitable match.
What's needed
Prerequisites: Psychological stability
Minimum age: 18 years
For the participating volunteers, the project BiP 'Encounter in sponsorships' offers regular exchange meetings, training, joint offers, supervision opportunities, reimbursement of expenses and insurance coverage.
Time required
You and your partner determine the time and place of the meetings yourself. A classic sponsorship usually runs for two years, but you should be able to take at least one year.
Important notice
You should enjoy intercultural exchange and dealing with people. You also need patience and the ability to distinguish yourself.
Where?
Patenprojekt BiP Begegnung in Patenschaften

We connect you with people who live in boarding houses or other accommodations in Munich. Look beyond the horizon with these people, for example by meeting in the context of a classic mentorship to speak German with each other, to support with official administration or to spend free time together. Or you engage in a short-term mentorship of three to six months and deal with a concrete topic, such as studying together for school or a German course, preparing application documents or finding an apprenticeship. You meet once a week for about 2-4 hours, place and time are chosen freely.
