About the volunteering opportunity

The mentoring project of our MARIE volunteering office brings together people from Berlin who want to support other people. We are looking for committed people to accompany refugees or other groups of people in need of support and help them settle into a new environment. Personal contact at eye level in particular helps people to get to know each other better and learn from each other. Prejudices can be broken down and replaced by shared experiences.

We offer you: individual support and advice, a regular range of further training courses, joint leisure activities, access to free cultural events, issue of proof of commitment, reimbursement of (BVG) travel costs if required.

Your Tasks

Support a young couple from Afghanistan in learning German. They are attending a language course at an adult education center and would like support in learning, in deepening their language practice through conversation and in concrete exam preparation. They live with their two children (of nursery and primary school age) in the Tempelhof district.
