About the volunteering opportunity
The mentoring program to strengthen the social participation of foreign care professionals, or "STaF" for short, aims to open up low-threshold access to the local engagement landscape for newly immigrated care workers in a mentor-mentee relationship. The aim is to create opportunities for locals and newly arrived caregivers to meet - whether in a sports club, hiking group, choir or joint social engagement in the neighborhood.
Your Tasks
As a mentor, you will provide on-site support for one to a maximum of three newly immigrated caregivers as mentees. The specific form of the mentoring relationship is left up to the participants themselves and is based on the needs of the mentees. The mentoring relationship is based on voluntariness and confidentiality. It follows the principle: "As much support as necessary, as much personal responsibility as possible.
What's needed
Own commitment experience and time capacities (about 6h per month), willingness to participate in a free mentoring training (20 training units) as well as reliability, empathy and teamwork should be available. We are looking for committed citizens with and without a migration background.
Time required
Important notice
Open-mindedness and curiosity for dealing with people whose native language is neither German nor English are prerequisites for participation in the program. Mentees must have at least B1-level German language skills.
"STaF" is funded by the Robert Bosch Foundation.
