About the volunteering opportunity
Informing, learning, networking. It is impossible to imagine the 21st century without the Internet. It influences our quality of life, social interactions, educational opportunities and participation in social resources such as the labor market.
Especially the central shared housing for refugees, repatriates or homeless people is often located in former commercial properties and was not originally intended for a large number of residential units. Solid walls and high fire protection measures also limit reception quality in the building. Mobile phone contracts either have no Internet connection at all or only a very low transmission rate and are therefore only an alternative in individual cases.
Your Tasks
To ensure that the Internet runs stably in the accommodations, we are looking for a person who will travel to the accommodations in the event of outages and take over maintenance and support there on site.
Sometimes new accommodations are added. Then an installation on site is necessary.
What's needed
Most important is that you are in Augsburg and mobile to drive to the accommodations if needed.
Otherwise it would be great if you have the following skills:
- Linux experience (handling terminal, software installation)
- Knowledge about network setup (knowledge about different components of a modern network: modem, router, switches, APs)
- Basic English skills
