About the volunteering opportunity

We are looking for companions who support elderly people with and without wheelchair/walker and adult people with mental disabilities in their mobility support: Common walks, drink coffee, organize excursions, listen to music (60s-90s), puzzles, deal with the existing model railroad, watch movies together and have general conversations.

The support is needed especially in Reinickendorf. The project office is about 4 bus stops away from S+U Wittenau.

Your Tasks

Accompanying an elderly person: Accompanying people with walking disabilities, wheelchair push service, walks, doctor visits, shopping

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.

You should enjoy working with older people or people with mental disabilities and have empathy, as well as be reliable, min. 4-6 months time and possibly have experience with wheelchairs. But above all, qualities such as patience, reliability and sincere interest in the people in our facilities are important to us.

No health restrictions, participation in wheelchair training (3 - 4 h), appointments as needed
