About the volunteering opportunity
For our work with seniors we are looking for:
in the area of digital mentors:
The digital mentors accompany the seniors in their first steps in the digital world. They support the seniors in the use of cell phone, tablet, computer and programs and with challenges and further questions to the side. They provide practical assistance and tips for easier use of digital devices. With the help of your support, the senior citizens are enabled to use important digital functions independently in everyday life.
The assignment takes place about 3-4 times a month either at the Trudering Family Center or at the senior citizens' homes.
Your tasks:
- e.g. Answering questions and procedures about everyday digital topics and programs
- Explaining functions (e.g. answering calls, writing messages, installing app....)
- "Demonstrate", "show" and jointly "try out" functions
- jointly develop individual usage strategies
- remove digital insecurities and fears
Timeframe:
- approx. 3-4x per month assignment as digital mentor
- Before starting approx. 15 hours training as a digital mentor
- During the assignment regular meetings of all digital mentors to exchange experiences
Your Tasks
The tasks vary depending on which project you are interested in. The tasks can be very different. Our support ranges from accompanying primary school children to coaching families and children to sponsoring the Balu und Du project.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
You should be willing to work with people and not give up immediately when others are different, but feel that diversity is enriching. Therefore, openness, interest in others and a good mood are important :) The ability to work in a team would not be bad either, although in some areas you will work alone.
