Vacation care for Duisburg primary school children during the climb learning vacations

You can join climb as a teacher for two weeks. During this time, you will teach a small group of children between the ages of 5 and 10 together with other climb teachers. You design your own lessons and an afternoon project. You will learn a lot about leading and motivating groups, but also about your strengths and how to deal with challenges.

During the learning vacations, the subjects math and German are covered with the children (from preschool to 4th grade). We also offer two excursions during the vacations, e.g. a trip to the climbing forest or to the farm. We organize the breaks and afternoons with games or things like handicrafts and painting, which can be designed by the volunteers themselves - your creativity is welcome.

Your Tasks

You:

• teach a small group in German and math together with other climb teachers
• design a project
• come along on excursions
• supervise the breaks

• Daily free further training opportunities
• Experienced trainers on site accompany you in class, give feedback and support you with open ears
• Daily reflection offers so that you can deepen and classify your findings
• Catering during the learning holidays
• An expense allowance of €250 for your voluntary work

What's needed

We rely purely on the volunteers' sense of responsibility, motivation and openness. No previous pedagogical knowledge or training is required, especially as the volunteers are always accompanied by professionals under contract with climb.

A police clearance certificate is mandatory when working with children. The costs for this are covered by climb. We also need proof of vaccination, as vaccination against measles is important. You should be able to keep a cool head in stressful situations and, above all, enjoy working with the children.

Time required

You can volunteer with us during the Easter vacations as well as during the summer and fall vacations. Get in touch if you are interested and we will see when it suits you best.

In addition, there are two preparation weekends before the learning vacations so that you can start your work with the children in a well-prepared and organized manner.

Important notice

We are a Hamburg social enterprise and have been inspiring children and adults to learn since 2012. Our Climb learning holidays are a unique educational programme in Germany. We support children on their educational path, strengthen young adults for leadership tasks and design educational landscapes.
