About the volunteering opportunity
In the mentoring project of our MARIE volunteering office, people from Berlin who want to support other people come together in 1:1 mentoring. We are looking for people who would like to accompany refugees or other people in need of support and make it easier for them to settle into a new environment. Personal contact at eye level in particular helps people to get to know each other better and learn from each other. Prejudices can be broken down and replaced by shared experiences.
We offer you full-time contact persons, regular information, invitations to joint activities and events, proof of commitment, reimbursement of (BVG) travel expenses if required.
Your Tasks
Do you live in Neukölln and would like to support someone in a difficult situation?
We have the perfect opportunity for you:
A family urgently needs support from at least two volunteers who can accompany two brothers on their way to school every day. They attend 1st and 2nd grade at Theodor Strom Primary School. The mother is alone with four children and lives in a accommodation without any other family support. It is very difficult for the mother to get all the children to school or nursery on time every day. To make matters worse, the two boys have staggered school times. This results in increased absenteeism for the children.
The family lives about 20 minutes (by bus) from the school.
As the volunteer office of AWO Berlin Kreisverband Südost e.V., we will support you in this volunteer work. We will advise you, help you get to know the family and provide advice and support afterwards if you have any questions or problems. As a volunteer, you are covered by liability and accident insurance through the district association.
Have we piqued your interest? Then get in touch with us - we look forward to getting to know you and welcoming you into our circle of volunteers!
