About the volunteering opportunity
At our work camps, young people from all over the world come together to work voluntarily on a charitable project for 2 to 3 weeks. Every year, we organize around 30 camps with a wide variety of projects in the areas of nature and environmental protection, construction and renovation , or in the social and artistic fields. Most of the camps take place in southern Germany.
Depending on the project, the group consists of 8 to 12 volunteers from different countries. The camp language is English in all our camps.
Your Tasks
As a camp leader, you get involved in the charitable work project together with the whole group, take on responsibility and learn new skills in the process.
You coordinate your life and work together: When do you work? Who cooks? Who cleans? What leisure activities are there? At the beginning, you initiate games to get to know each other, mediate conflicts and make sure that everyone is involved and happy. Beforehand, you will make contact with the local project partners and the international volunteers and gather initial ideas for leisure activities.

Experience in working with youth groups is an advantage, but not a requirement.
You will usually lead the camp together with another person. In most cases, the co-camp leader contacts us directly and we put them in touch. However, you are also welcome to ask friends if they would like to lead the camp with you.

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
- Minimum age 18 years
- You should be able to communicate well in English . School English is absolutely sufficient.
- a driver's license is usually helpful, but not always necessary.
If you have no experience of working with youth groups or international volunteering, we recommend that you take part in one of our preparatory seminars for future group leaders.
Time required
As the group leader, you arrive one day before the camp starts. This means you will definitely be there before the first participants, can do the initial bulk shopping and prepare the accommodation.
You are on site for the entire duration of the project. You live in the same accommodation, work on the project together with the volunteers and, of course, enjoy the leisure activities and intercultural coexistence.

Important notice
Places for group leaders are allocated on a "first come, first served" basis: This can sometimes be at very short notice. However, it is generally easier for you and for us if you decide as early as possible - then you have a wider choice of camps!
