About the volunteering opportunity
For Mr. S., a 67-year-old resident of our shared apartment "WG Spittelmarkt", we are looking for a volunteer caregiver who will take care of him. Mr. S. has a varied past as a machine fitter and insulator and likes to share his experiences, especially about his watch collection in his room. He would like more visits, especially for joint shopping trips to Lidl. Due to his mild cognitive impairment, he needs support with everyday activities and spends most of his time in his room. Despite his dementia, Mr. S. can still speak fairly well and uses a walking frame to get around.
Your Tasks
- Regular visits to Mr. S. to talk about his experiences
- Support with joint shopping trips
- Sensitive companionship and entertainment tailored to his needs and preferences
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
- Empathy and sensitivity in dealing with older people
- Willingness to provide individual care and adapt to the needs of Mr. Schr.
- Reliability and regular availability for visits
