About the volunteering opportunity
With our Yadan Biad (= Hand in Hand in Arabic) project, we at the German Red Cross KV Schöneberg-Wilmersdorf e.V. want to get people from the neighborhood to accompany young refugees who have fled to Germany alone on their various paths into our society.
Our aim is to shape integration together and support young refugees who are alone in Germany to reach their destination more quickly, stay motivated and not feel alone.
We are looking for volunteers who would like to accompany unaccompanied young refugees with heart and commitment. Whether you are young or young at heart, if you are motivated and want to make a positive impact on the lives of unaccompanied refugee minors, you have come to the right place.
Your Tasks
We are currently looking for people who would like to tutor a small group of young refugees between the ages of 14 and 17 in German (beginner level A1) once a week for 1.5 hours. You would support the group with another volunteer.
You will be in regular contact with the project management and the social workers on site.
What's needed
You need advanced German language skills for this job offer.
You do not need any previous teaching experience. As the young people all speak very little German, the main aim is to teach them the basics and make them feel comfortable/have a good time together. We are looking for this:
- Long-term commitment for at least 6 months, but ideally longer
- Openness, curiosity and respectful interaction at eye level
- Commitment, personal responsibility and reliability
- Independent work, possibly together with other volunteers in a team
Time required
We are looking for someone who can give lessons either every Monday between 16:30 and 18:00 and/or every Tuesday between 16:30 and 18:00.
(of course excluding illness / vacation, emergencies, etc.).
The lessons take place in the Pangea Haus in Trautenaustraße 5, 10717 Berlin.

We bring people together who fit together as well as possible and share common interests or goals. We work closely with two shelters in Schöneberg for refugee women and their children and provide close and professional support for both refugees and volunteers.
We are currently looking for women who would like to support young refugee women on their way to a new life. From park mornings with children, excursions, support with formalities to cooking together, everything can be included. We are looking forward to meeting you!
