About the volunteering opportunity
The German Red Cross Bremen District Association currently employs over 1,400 staff and around 800 volunteers in a wide variety of areas. In the spirit of humanity, we are committed to the life, health, well-being, protection, peaceful coexistence and dignity of all people.
The DRK Rotes Haus youth center, located at the Bremen playground in Neue Vahr Nord, was reopened in September 2007 after a structural expansion and now offers space for many young people. There are leisure facilities such as a billiard room, table tennis, table football, poker corner, disco room, internet and a communal kitchen.
We are looking for volunteers who would like to help us with garden maintenance at the DRK Rotes Haus youth center
Your Tasks
Mowing the lawn: You make sure that the lawn looks neat and tidy.
Maintaining outdoor areas: You keep the outside area clean and attractive.
Weeding: You remove weeds to keep the garden areas in good condition.
General gardening: This may include planting, repotting, fertilizing and caring for flowers, shrubs and trees, as well as foliage work. Independent work is important.
What's needed
You should know what needs to be done in a garden. Basic knowledge of garden maintenance is an advantage. Interest in gardening and plants. Willingness to do physical work outdoors. You should be able to deal with children and young people. Friendliness and patience are important qualities.
Time required
The working hours are determined in consultation with the facilities. Flexibility is desirable.
