About the volunteering opportunity
On June 6, we would like to take 30 residents on a trip to the forest and are still looking for 5 volunteers to help us organize it.
The senior citizens are in wheelchairs and depend on your help to be able to take part in this day. The trip to the Eierhäuschen in Plänterwald offers the elderly in wheelchairs, those in need of care and dementia sufferers who live in the care home a welcome change and the opportunity to relax in nature and recharge their batteries.
The egg house has been renovated after a long time and is now open again, bringing back many memories for older people. The time spent together promotes a sense of community and enables participants to make friends and strengthen social bonds.
Your Tasks
- Push wheelchairs: Accompanying the residents during the excursion
- Independently organize and carry out small get-to-know-you games or activities (optional if the volunteers have their own initiative)
- Providing conversation partners and listeners for the residents
12:30 p.m.: Arrival of the volunteers, meeting point in the care home
1:00 p.m.: Start of the excursion to the Eierhäuschen with the residents, walk in the forest and relaxation in the beer garden with light refreshments
5:00 p.m.: Planned end
What's needed
- Empathy and patience in dealing with older people, especially those with dementia
- Willingness to adapt to the individual needs of residents and act with empathy
