About the volunteering opportunity
Mentoring makes you strong!
The mentoring project of our MARIE volunteering office brings together people from Berlin who want to support other people. We are looking for committed people who accompany refugees or other groups of people in need of support and make it easier for them to settle into a new environment. Personal contact at eye level in particular helps people to get to know each other better and learn from each other. Prejudices can be broken down and replaced by shared experiences.
As a mentor, you help to shape society on a small scale and help to open up opportunities.
What can we offer you?
- individual support and advice
- Exchange and joint activities with other mentors
- Insurance cover (liability and accident insurance)
- Assumption of travel costs (public transportation)
Your Tasks
For a 14-year-old boy who lives in a shared accommodation in Zehlendorf, we are looking for a person who can help him with his homework once a week (or more often) for about 2 hours. He speaks German very well, but he needs help with math, reading and writing.
It should be noted that the pupil has epilepsy and a walking disability.
What's needed
Volunteers must be native German speakers.
Are you reliable, empathetic, fun and possibly already have some experience in tutoring? We look forward to hearing from you!
Time required
approx. 2 hours per week, more often if possible
Important notice
We are particularly happy to welcome committed people who live in Zehlendorf.
