About PFIFF gGmbH
Target group(s)
Children and young people in difficult circumstances: PFIFF's services are primarily aimed at young people who need support to grow up in a stable and secure environment due to their parents' mental illness or other family crises.
Foster children and care leavers: A key target group are children living in foster families and young adults who have to find their way to independence after leaving youth welfare.
Parents of origin and foster parents: PFIFF supports both biological parents in coping with parenting crises and foster parents by providing qualified advice, further training and support in everyday life with a foster child.
Volunteers: The organization specifically targets citizens who would like to act as a mentor for children and young adults and be a reliable extra-familial caregiver.
Youth welfare professionals: As a specialized service, PFIFF also offers advice and cooperation for professionals and institutions in order to strengthen the quality of child and youth welfare in Hamburg.

Funding
PFIFF secures the majority of its services through state service fees from the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, which are used to refinance the statutory tasks of youth welfare (such as outpatient assistance or foster parent counseling).
Additional educational services and projects that go beyond basic state provision are made possible by private donations and the financial support of the PFIFF e.V. support association.
In addition, the organization ensures the implementation of special programs through cooperation with various foundations and the acquisition of targeted project funding.
Objectives
The overarching aim of PFIFF is to strengthen families, protect children and enable them to grow up in a safe and supportive environment.
Our core objectives are
- Safeguarding the welfare of children: Outpatient help and educational support ensure that the basic needs of children and young people are met and that they grow up in a safe place.
- Strengthening parenting skills: PFIFF supports parents (both parents of origin and foster parents) in their parenting skills, helps them to cope with crises and promotes positive attachment patterns.
- Promotion of self-determination (empowerment): With procedures such as the "family council", we pursue the goal of ensuring that families develop their own solutions to their problems independently and sustainably, instead of just implementing guidelines from professionals.
- Creating stable relationship networks: The placement and support of foster families as well as sponsorships (especially for children of mentally ill parents and care leavers) are intended to create reliable reference persons and relief options for strained family systems.
In summary, PFIFF sees itself as a specialist service that develops individual prospects for children and families in Hamburg through advice, training and networking.
Your support helps
Your involvement will help children of mentally stressed parents to experience more stability and light-heartedness through reliable time together and new stimuli outside of their everyday family life.
At the same time, you will support care leavers - young adults leaving youth welfare services - as a mentor in their transition to self-determination by providing them with advice and security in this new phase of their lives.
In both cases, you become an important bridge to society and give young people the certainty that they are not alone in their challenges.
