About the volunteering opportunity
Careleavers are young people who live in a residential group or foster family and are on their way to a self-determined life outside of youth welfare, which is associated with a wide range of challenges.
Many of these young people want someone to stay with them - even after the help has been planned. Our sponsorships create precisely this opportunity: relationships that are allowed to grow. They are aimed at young people between the ages of 14 and 24.

Your Tasks
As a volunteer mentor, you accompany a teenager or young adult who has no other adult caregivers outside of a residential group or foster family. Many of these young people have already experienced several relationship breakdowns. This makes your continuity, openness, reliability and stability all the more important.
As a sponsor, you do not need to have ready-made solutions for all situations in life. Rather, it is a matter of offering a supportive, reliable service in line with the motto: "From here on, we'll walk together."

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
PFIFF prepares you intensively for your task, including a qualification seminar. During your sponsorship, you will be advised by experienced professionals and supported through regular meetings. There are also opportunities to exchange ideas with other mentors, tandem opportunities and supervision if required. We also offer training courses on relevant topics.
Time required
Regularly
Discussed individually
On weekdays, on weekends, at night
The sponsorship is as varied as the interests and current topics of the young people. Whether it's shopping and cooking together, support in finding accommodation or with official matters, a walk, sports activities, guidance in educational and professional life or simply a good chat over a piece of cake - many things are possible. The decisive factor is the shared experience and your role as a reliable, encouraging reference person. This often leads to trust, new perspectives and shared joy.
Important notice
You have the willingness and time for a long-term, continuous commitment with regular meetings approximately every two weeks. You are interested in young people's lives and their issues and approach young people with humor, openness and heart. In addition, you are willing to take part in regular exchange meetings and discussions.
A prerequisite for the commitment is also an extended certificate of good conduct as well as the openness to become a reliable caregiver for a teenager or young adult.
