About the volunteering opportunity

Since 2022, our association Ambulante Versorgungsbrücken e.V. has been running the "Rickshaw Rides" project, with which we want to give people of advanced age or with limited mobility unforgettable experiences.

In a rickshaw with electric support, volunteer drivers (we call them pilots) take them on trips into the city, to the Weser, the Werdersee, the Bürgerpark or to special personal places. The rickshaws are custom-built, offer safe and comfortable transportation and are specially designed to meet the needs of older people - for example with rain and sun protection, a boarding aid or warm footbags and blankets for colder days.

During the one to two-hour rickshaw rides through Bremen, senior citizens and others who are unable to pedal themselves experience "the right to have wind in their hair" - regardless of age.

Your Tasks

Would you like to accompany senior citizens and people with limited mobility on unforgettable trips through Bremen, into the countryside and to the water - and give them mobility and a zest for life? Then join our rickshaw project and become a pilot!

Anyone can learn to drive a rickshaw! Whether young or old, student or pensioner - we are happy to welcome anyone who is open-minded and enthusiastic. You will be extensively prepared for the rides in training sessions with experienced pilots and receive all the support you need to drive safely through the streets. And don't worry, you don't have to be a competitive athlete: the rickshaw has electric assistance!

Support us as a pilot, whether weekly, once a month or twice a year - you arrange your tour exactly when you have time. There are no fixed dates.
Your strengths lie more in organization, marketing, event planning or repairing the rickshaw? Then you are also very welcome to support the project!

Would you like to get to know us? Just drop by at our regular get-together!
When?
Usually every first Tuesday of the month from 5 pm in the office of the Ambulanten Versorgungsbrücken.
We look forward to meeting you :)
