About the volunteering opportunity
We are currently setting up a sewing program for residents in our shared accommodation for refugees. We are looking for a (female) volunteer who has experience and knowledge of sewing and would enjoy helping our women take their first steps in sewing and supporting them with sewing projects. With us, you can design the sewing program yourself and contribute your own ideas.
Your Tasks
- You show women with no previous knowledge how sewing works on the sewing machine.
- You support residents (including experienced ones) with their sewing projects and contribute your own project ideas on request.
- You can further develop the sewing room and bring it to life.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
- Enjoyment and basic knowledge of sewing and experience with sewing machines
- Openness in dealing with people with experiences of flight and migration
- Interest in intercultural exchange, despite possible language barriers
Time required

The LfG-B is a state-owned organization and operates several shared accommodation and reception facilities for refugees in Berlin, one of which is the GU at Rennbahnstraße 87-88 in Pankow. The residents of the former hotel are made up of refugees from various countries of origin. Almost 2/3 of the residents are children and young people.
