wellcome - practical help after the birth is a service offered by wellcome gGmbH. Since 2002, volunteers have been supporting families at over 200 locations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

In Berlin Steglitz-Zehlendorf, practical help after birth is provided by the Stadtteilzentrum Steglitz e.V. (Steglitz District Center).

The first few months after the birth of a child are a major challenge for all parents. With the Practical help after the birth, we support parents who are looking for relief during this time, especially when other helping hands are missing. Our volunteers accompany families in a practical and uncomplicated way.

Our volunteer wellcome angels give young parents a good start to family life. Just a walk with the baby or playing with a sibling can, for example, give a single mother time to relax, go to the doctor or have a postnatal period. You can help a particular family once or twice a week for 2 - 3 hours for approx. 3 - 8 months and then the next family is already looking forward to it.
Prerequisite: Experience with babies.
A great team and good support from a team coordinator are looking forward to meeting you.

Experience with babies

1 to 2 times a week for 2 to 3 hours for 3 to 10 months in a family, then gladly the next family

- A commitment that you can organize flexibly

- A wellcome team coordinator, who provides professional support for the assignments and in whom you have a reliable contact person at your side

- Regular meetings and exchanges with other volunteers from the team

- Further training and qualifications on the topic of family and baby

- You are of course insured and your travel expenses will be reimbursed
