About the volunteering opportunity
The AWO Refugium Hausvaterweg is a reception facility for adult refugees and their families. Up to 280 people can live in the accommodation spread over three floors. An experienced and qualified intercultural team of around 15 employees takes care of the residents' concerns and organizes life in the facility.
Your Tasks
We are looking for committed language mediators who would like to use their skills in various languages such as Arabic, Dari, Russian, Kurdish, Farsi, Spanish, Turkish, Urdu and others to support people in our accommodation.
Visits and accompaniment: You accompany our residents to medical appointments, visits to the authorities or other important appointments. Your language support ensures that they receive the information they need and feel understood in difficult situations.
Translating and interpreting: You will help to translate conversations between our residents and specialists. Your commitment is essential so that everyone involved can communicate well and misunderstandings are avoided.
Your commitment: You decide how often and when you can help - be it as part of short-term assignments or regularly over a longer period of time.
What we offer: A meaningful activity with a direct impact on the lives of others. The opportunity to gain new experiences and develop your language skills. A welcoming and supportive team atmosphere where your contribution is valued.
Become part of our community and help us build bridges between cultures. Your commitment is not only invaluable for the residents, but also enriches your own life!
Are you interested? Then get in touch with us and let's make a difference together!
