About the volunteering opportunity
We are looking for creative and dedicated volunteers to help us redesign and improve our Kitchen Hub - a community workspace with a kitchen. The aim is to make the space more welcoming, functional and inspiring for our community.
We are looking for up to three volunteers with different skills:

Someone with experience in interior design or space planning
- Someone who is handy or has experience with DIY or small construction projects (e.g. building tables, shelves, seating or other functional elements)
- Someone with an artistic background who would like to develop and implement a mural concept for our space
Volunteers to support both the conceptual development and the practical implementation of the ideas.
Your Tasks
Job description:
Volunteers support the transformation of our kitchen hub, among other things by

Developing a creative and functional space concept together with the team
- Designing ideas to improve the comfort, aesthetics and usability of the space
- Building or installing small pieces of furniture (e.g. tables, shelves, seating)
- Developing and implementing a mural concept (for the artistic role)
- Coordination of materials and support for practical implementation on site
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
This role is ideal for people who want to work hands-on, think creatively and contribute to a meaningful community space. It requires reliability, basic project coordination and the ability to work collaboratively over several months.

Über den Tellerrand kochen München e.V. ("cooking outside the box") promotes the personal exchange between people of different cultural backgrounds. In cooking events both get to know each other on eye level which actively shapes a sustainable and successful integration process. How exactly does this work? We organize events in which 20-30 participants with and without refugee experience cook and eat together. Usually we cook traditional dishes from the home countries of the refugee participants, who can share something about their culture. The events are organized by volunteers of our community and financed by donations and funding from the city of Munich. By involving both refugees and locals in the organization of the events, we motivate both sides to jointly shape the integration process. This promotes intercultural competences and enables social and cultural participation for refugees.
