About the volunteering opportunity
Growunited e.V. is inviting artists and creative individuals from Frankfurt and it´s surroundings to participate in "Art as a Space for Dialogue and Democratic Participation", funded by the Partnerschaft für Demokratie Frankfurt.
We are looking for 6 people from various artistic disciplines — painting, textile art, poetry, performance, visual art, or others — who want to develop and present their own work around themes such as migration, diversity, belonging, or democratic coexistence. The project combines artistic practice with democratic participation, creating an open space for dialogue and encounter in Frankfurt.
The project is open to people with and without a migration background, and with and without formal artistic training.
Your Tasks
- Attend the Encounter for Democracy and Art on June 29th (2 hours max.)
- Develop or present an artwork inspired by or related to the themes explored at the Encounter (if the work is created from scratch, material costs will be reimbursed against receipt, up to a maximum of €80–100)
- Present your artwork at a public Art Gallery in August 2026 (4–5 hours, date to be confirmed) — Participate in dialogue activities with the public during the gallery
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
- Residence in Frankfurt or surrounding area
- Interest in social topics such as migration, diversity, or democracy

Between the Encounter and the Gallery, participants will have approximately 3 weeks to select, develop or finalize their artwork independently.
Important notice
Participants will receive economic compensation for their artwork and participation. If the artwork is created from scratch, material costs will be reimbursed against receipt up to a maximum of €80–100.
All publications and communications related to this project are funded by the Partnerschaft für Demokratie Frankfurt as part of the federal program "Demokratie leben!" (BMFSFJ).
