About the volunteering opportunity

We are looking for volunteers to support our summer campaign, such as street campaigns and events.

Together, we’re raising funds for our “Forest Cup” project in Bertoua, Cameroon—a sports-for-development initiative that combines soccer with environmental education and community outreach for young people. The donations will fund tree seedlings for the tree-planting campaigns, as well as tools for the trash collection and cleanup efforts in the community, environmental education workshops, and our closing soccer tournament.

Your Tasks

As a volunteer, you will:
  • Interact with the public: Welcome visitors, introduce the Hope Foundation e.V., and answer simple questions about our work.
  • Help with fundraising: Encourage visitors to support our projects through voluntary donations and by scanning our QR code.
  • Spread positive energy: Help create a welcoming atmosphere at our information booth and work closely with our team.
  • Get to know our mascot: If you’d like, you can briefly step into the role of our mascot, “Cameroon Lion,” to entertain children and families (entirely voluntary).
  • Help with setup: Assist with setting up and taking down materials, and proudly wear our Hope Foundation T-shirt during the event.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
  • Open and communicative: You enjoy talking to people and conveying the Hope Foundation’s goals in a friendly manner.
  • Team player: You enjoy working with other volunteers and help create a positive atmosphere.
  • Reliable: You can stick to your assigned shift and arrive on time.
  • Language skills: English is helpful for communicating with the team. Basic knowledge of German is an advantage, as many visitors speak German.
  • Willingness to learn: No prior knowledge of the Hope Foundation or the Forest Cup project is required. We’ll go over everything shortly before your shift so you can confidently represent our work.

No prior experience in fundraising or volunteer work is required—just bring your enthusiasm and a positive attitude!

What to bring

  • You won’t be on your own: You’ll always be working alongside at least one other team member, and we’ll provide you with a brief orientation before your assignment.
  • A fun bonus: If you’d like, you can briefly step into the role of our mascot, the “Cameroon Lion,” to put a smile on the faces of children and families—this is completely voluntary!
  • Make a difference: Your support helps us raise funds for youth education and sports-for-development projects, including the Forest Cup in Cameroon.
  • We’ll take care of everything: We’ll provide all the materials, Hope Foundation merchandise, and a friendly, supportive team environment.

We look forward to welcoming you to our team!

Hope Foundation e.V.

The Hope Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Cameroon and Germany. Since 2001 we have been dedicated to children and women in Cameroon. We are particularly active in the areas of development cooperation, health and education. Due to the close contact with the Cameroonian population, we are in constant exchange about problems and solutions.

In Germany, we organize information and charity events as well as an education project on "global learning".

More information about our diverse projects can be found at: http://www.hope-found.org/en
