About the volunteering opportunity
Are you passionate about books and interested in helping to ensure their long-term preservation?
To fund our organization’s work in promoting reading, we sell a portion of the book donations we receive. As a member of our online shop team, you’ll check these books for condition, weight, and pricing.

Your Tasks
You’ll check our oldest books based on specific criteria. Using these criteria, you’ll assess how each book can be reused. Since the training period takes some time, we’re looking for someone who can commit long-term and regularly—ideally once a week for about 4 hours.
We look forward to meeting you!
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
Basic computer skills; ideally, prior experience working with older, antiquarian books
Time required
Regularly
Approx. 4 hours per week.
On weekdays, during the day
Ideally, once a week for about 4 hours. This is quite flexible and can be arranged by mutual agreement. It’s important that we find someone who is willing to take on this role long-term.
Important notice
If you're not sure whether this task is right for you, feel free to stop by anyway and check it out!
Location
Berliner Büchertisch e.V.
Our vision: Reading should be affordable for everyone - independent from his or her age, salary, social status or origin. That’s why the Büchertisch as a non-profit association supports libraries in schools, kindergartens, prisons and many other institutions. We also work in different projects to help children to access books and reading materials.
Moreover we supply various stations for free books throughout Berlin. In creating jobs and apprenticeships for people from various social backgrounds – from former homeless people to young professionals – we try to give people new perspectives.
