About the volunteering opportunity

The parents' hotline is a confidential and anonymous contact, discussion and advice service. It can be reached nationwide under a standardized and free telephone number from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 05:00 pm and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 05:00 pm to 07:00 pm.

Your Tasks

To work on the phone, you should be willing and have the time to
  • over a period of at least two years
  • regularly work several hours per month and
  • take part once a month in the coordination meetings and the professional support of the parents' helpline (Monday from 04:30 - 06:30 pm).
Before taking on voluntary work, a topic-specific training course of at least 60 hours takes place. One focus is on teaching counseling and communication skills in the special situation (purely telephone contact, no possibility of renewed contact, dealing with difficult telephone calls, etc.). In addition to imparting knowledge on various topics that occur on the telephone, practical exercises also play an important role. The training is followed by work shadowing for at least 10 hours.
