Support for intercultural cooking and language events

We would be very happy about your support in organizing and implementing our cooking and language events! The events are generally carried out by 2 "event mentors", who are involved in the overall organization with us and are the contact person at the event itself. But not only as an "event mentor", but also as a flexible support you can actively assist us in other tasks in the organization of the events!

Your Tasks

For example, we would be very happy to have your support in the following tasks:
* Bringing in new ideas for events: You always wanted to start a language tandem project? Or organize an intercultural street festival? Or plan a garden project? We'll support you with your great ideas!
* Co-organize events: Set up cooking utensils and prepare ingredients, participate in the event as a co-organizer and guide participants
* Shop: do the shopping for the cooking events or other errands in advance
* Take photos: capture the beautiful memories from the event together photographically.

These are examples, the tasks vary from event to event. We also have many experienced volunteers in the team to support you at your first event, and we are always available for you. How often or regularly you co-organize an event, you can decide individually and flexibly. We have some locations where we already cook regularly and also want to and may continue to cook, but we are also happy if you find new locations and support us to grow geographically.

Über den Tellerrand kochen München e.V. ("cooking outside the box") promotes the personal exchange between people of different cultural backgrounds. In cooking events both get to know each other on eye level which actively shapes a sustainable and successful integration process. How exactly does this work? We organize events in which 20-30 participants with and without refugee experience cook and eat together. Usually we cook traditional dishes from the home countries of the refugee participants, who can share something about their culture. The events are organized by volunteers of our community and financed by donations and funding from the city of Munich. By involving both refugees and locals in the organization of the events, we motivate both sides to jointly shape the integration process. This promotes intercultural competences and enables social and cultural participation for refugees.
