Give educational lectures at schools in Düsseldorf on the topic of malnutrition

Schools Against the Hunger is our annual school project in Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia. The sports and education project draws the attention of children and young people to the problem of malnutrition in the world. At the same time, it enables them to get involved socially in a sporting way. The project pursues three goals:

1. Education: The Schools Against Hunger team visits schools to inform children and young people about malnutrition, reports on the work in our project countries and how we are fighting hunger worldwide. Each year, we offer new thematic focuses, such as the links between climate change and hunger.

2. Sports: Afterwards, the children and young people engage in sports for a world without hunger. Usually, the schools organize a fundraising run. The pupils mobilized their families and friends as sponsors befor: For each run round they receive a fixed donation amount, which motivates them in their social commitment and at the same time supports the work of Action against Hunger.

3. A world without hunger: In recent years, Action against Hunger has been able to help more than 25 million people in about 50 countries and regions in areas such as nutrition, water and hygiene.

The Schools against Hunger team takes over both the acquisition of the schools, as well as the organization and implementation of the educational presentations nationwide. We are looking for committed volunteers who want to support the project from Rhineland-Palatinate or North Rhine-Westphalia. In close contact and exchange with our staff, you would travel to the schools in Rhineland-Palatinate/ North Rhine-Westphalia and deliver our educational lectures to the school classes. Your residence should preferably be in one of the above mentioned federal states. The content of the lectures is already prepared. During a two-day workshop you will be prepared in detail for the lecture and equipped with sound background knowledge about malnutrition, its causes and our work in the respective project countries. In addition, you will be shown pedagogical tools and methods that promise lasting success for your presentations.

Your Tasks

We are convinced that no human being in the world has to suffer from hunger. Action against hunger fights for a world without hunger and need. For everyone. Forever. Our goal: to save lives and restore hope to people in need. For over 40 years, we have been fighting malnutrition, creating access to clean water and health care.

Change the world too and fight with us for a world without hunger by:

• presenting interactive themed talks (online and offline) to children and young people of all ages (elementary, middle and high school).
• With the themed presentations the students*innen for the topic of malnutrition sensitize and motivate to engage in a sporty way socially for a world without hunger.
• You prepare for the educational presentations with the help of our materials and our professional support optimally. 

You get insights into an internationally operating, development and humanitarian aid organization and significantly advocate for our goal, a world without hunger.

What's needed

Who we are looking for:

• You want to change the world 
• Ideally you already have some experience with giving talks to groups of all ages and enjoy working with children and young people 
• You can arrange travel to schools in your state (RLP or NRW)

Time required

Time commitment approx. 5 hrs. per month (depending on how many themed presentations you want to do)
