About the volunteering opportunity
We are looking for committed volunteers who can imagine accompanying, encouraging and advising a young adult with a refugee background for a year.
Refugees face many challenges. To help them overcome these, especially when it comes to training, they are accompanied on their journey by volunteer mentors in the accompany project and supported with language, practical or social issues.
The accompany project opens up a space for encounters between people of different nationalities in order to enable joint participation and involvement in social life in Berlin.
Your Tasks
In general: Accompany-advise-strengthen.
The specific tasks are as varied as the people themselves. Experiencing something together in Berlin, help with the authorities, communicative exchange and much more.
What's needed
It's great if everyone can contribute some time, curiosity and patience.
Time required
Once a month there is an accompany meeting with all mentors/mentis and interested people.
There are various events and educational offers that can be attended individually.
The time allocation is done together with the menti.
Important notice
How the Accompany project works
After an initial meeting, the two people have two to three weeks to get to know each other. If both agree, they become a tandem pair for a year and sign a joint agreement

With the Accompany project, the Friends of the Jesuit Refugee Service e.V. supports the work of the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) in Berlin.
The Accompany project opens up a space for meetings between people of different nationalities to enable joint participation and involvement in social life in Berlin. Successful training is particularly important for young refugees and migrants. They face many challenges when looking for a training place or during their training. To help them overcome these, volunteer mentors in the Accompany project accompany them on their journey and support them with language, practical or social issues.
