Organize various events for older people and make everyone happy!

We are looking for people with a passion for organizing events. You are a volunteer team to plan and implement various event formats for older people in Cologne.

As part of our dedicated team, you will have the unique opportunity to bring young and old people together and create unforgettable experiences.

Your Tasks

We organize events for special occasions such as the International Day of Older Persons on October 1 and during the Christmas season; we are currently planning a summer party or a summer outing for older people at the end of May / beginning of June 2024. Your creativity and organizational skills are needed to design inspiring and perhaps even innovative events and ensure the smooth running of these events.

What's needed

You will need advanced German language skills for this volunteer opportunity.

Time required

You can organize your time flexibly and plan the event in the team according to your time constraints. You can also decide whether you would like to get involved as part of a project or on a regular basis.

Important notice

Our events are specifically aimed at lonely older people aged 75 and over who have a visiting partnership with Freunde alter Menschen e.V.. Many of these people are restricted in their mobility. This restriction presents us with challenges when organizing some events, as a transport service for older people is required, for example. For this reason, it is not possible to offer certain events such as dance events.

We are part of an international volunteer organisation called "les petits frères des Pauvres", founded in France and dedicated to helping elderly people who are affected or threatened by loneliness and isolation. Our organisation has been active in Europe since 1946 and is now also active in North America. It also has consultative status with the United Nations (UN).
