About the volunteering opportunity
The Berliner Büchertisch is a project organized as a non-profit association and cooperative. We are committed to ensuring that everyone can afford to read. We accept book donations and distribute them to social and cultural institutions. The project is financed by selling some of the books in two social bookshops and an online store.
Your Tasks
task description:
- Receiving donations and separating them by medium
- help with entering donations
- Repack media
- Divide books into rough categories
- if necessary, stack or carry boxes of books (not absolutely necessary)
Bonus:
- You find great books and can expand your private library if the opportunity arises
- If no donations come in, you can sit back and read
If you're not sure whether it's something for you, feel free to write an email and take a look at everything on site.

Our vision: Reading should be affordable for everyone - independent from his or her age, salary, social status or origin. That’s why the Büchertisch as a non-profit association supports libraries in schools, kindergartens, prisons and many other institutions. We also work in different projects to help children to access books and reading materials.
Moreover we supply various stations for free books throughout Berlin. In creating jobs and apprenticeships for people from various social backgrounds – from former homeless people to young professionals – we try to give people new perspectives.
