Ukraine Support 2025: What you can do now
Ukraine has been exposed to Russia’s war of aggression for over three years. The latest decision by the USA to no longer provide military support is likely to exacerbate the situation even further. Here we show you how you can continue to support people from Ukraine in this difficult situation both here in Germany and on the ground in Ukraine as part of the Ukraine Support 2025.
- Support with your time by volunteering
- Support with monetary donations to aid organizations
- Support people in Ukraine with donations in kind
- Show solidarity at demonstrations
1. Support with your time by volunteering

Many of the approximately 1.3 million people who have fled to Germany from Ukraine since February 2022 are initially dependent on support here. By volunteering in Ukraine Support, you can help them to settle into society and facilitate their access to the job market. Here’s what you can do:
Support in everyday life
Whether it’s for visits to the authorities, apartment viewings or general questions about everyday life in Germany – by sponsoring a person or family from Ukraine, you can make it easier for them to settle in and at the same time you can learn some interesting things about our neighboring European country during joint activities.
Support with learning German
Knowing the language of a country is one of the most important starting points for finding your way around and making contacts. With a 1:1 language tandem or a regular meeting in a language café, you can help Ukrainians to learn this important skill.
Tutoring & leisure activities for Ukrainian children & young people
Through regular tutoring sessions, you can help children and young people to better navigate the German education system and thus improve their future prospects. You can also get involved in multilingual children’s and youth clubs and help them connect with others.
Spend leisure time together
Coming into contact with locals and making friends is also an important prerequisite for gaining a foothold in a country. This can happen in particular through joint activities such as cooking together, making music or going on excursions into the countryside.
You can find these and many other opportunities to get involved for Ukrainians on vostel.de.
2. support with monetary donations to aid organizations

There is a large number of aid organizations that support people both in Ukraine and here in Germany. Not least due to the massive cuts in development aid by the USAID, aid organizations are now lacking funds in many places. With a donation, you can support the aid organizations directly and help them to continue their important work. You can donate to, among others:
Independent power supply
The organization Space-Eye e.V. supplies solar power plants and emergency power generators to partners in Ukraine. They supply the most important facilities (clinics, schools, emergency shelters) with electricity. Donate now
Emergency medical care
As the situation in Ukraine continues to escalate, the German Red Cross (DRK) is expanding its support for its sister organization, the Ukrainian Red Cross (URK), so that people in the war zone can be cared for. Donate now
Supplying the people on site
The war in Ukraine means enormous suffering for the population. Millions of people are on the run. The Aktion Deutschland Hilft alliance of over 20 aid organizations is providing emergency aid on the ground and in neighbouring countries. Donate now
Distribution of donations in kind on site
Together with local partners, Wir packens’s an e.V. sorts, packs and sends clothing, food, hygiene articles and much more to crisis regions to support refugees in Ukraine and Europe. Donate now
Help for animals on site
Since March 2022, Notpfote Animal Rescue e.V. has been traveling to Ukraine every week to distribute food donations and bring refugees and their animals to safety. They are building quarantine facilities in Hungary and Ukraine to take in as many animals as possible from Ukraine. Donate now
On betterplace.org you will also find many other ways to support people in Ukraine and in Germany with a donation.
3. Support with donations in kind for people in Ukraine

Send free support packages
Due to the winter and the massive destruction in many places in Ukraine, people are still dependent on support in the form of donations in kind. Deutsche Post is offering the opportunity to send a free aid package with donations in kind. In particular, durable food, medicine, hygiene products and household items are needed.
Donation locations in various cities
You can also hand in donations in kind in many German cities. For example here:
- Berlin: Ukraine-Hilfe Berlin e.V.
- Breitscheid (Hesse): Ukrainehilfe Breitscheid
- Frankfurt: Frankfurt for Ukraine
- Giessen: Global Aid Network
- Hamburg: Ukraine-Hilfe Hamburg
- Cologne: Blue-Yellow Cross
- Leipzig: Leipzig helps Ukraine e.V.
- Munich: Munich helps Ukraine e.V.
- Nuremberg: Ukraine-Hilfe Nuremberg
Your city is not listed? With a simple search for city + “Donations in kind Ukraine” you are sure to find a collection point near you.
4. show solidarity at demonstrations

Large and small demonstrations in support of Ukraine take place time and again, most recently in many German cities to mark the third anniversary of the Russian invasion. By taking part in demonstrations, you join people all over the world in showing solidarity with the people of Ukraine and taking a stand against the authoritarian and belligerent actions. Just keep your eyes and ears open for events where you can set an example for peace.
The vostel.de team would like to thank you for your support in Ukraine Support 2025!
