About the volunteering opportunity

We are looking for 1-5 committed volunteers for a job application training course with refugees. You will simulate job interviews for various jobs in role plays and then give the participants constructive feedback: What went well? Where is there room for improvement?

The aim is to help refugees feel more confident in job interviews, communicate their strengths more clearly and answer typical questions with confidence.

Previous experience in recruiting is helpful, but not essential - what is important is openness, empathy and enjoyment of the exchange.

Your Tasks

The volunteers take on the role of interviewers in simulated job interviews (role plays). They ask typical questions from job interviews, react to the participants' answers and make the interview situation as realistic as possible.

Afterwards, they give constructive, appreciative feedback:

  • What was done well?

  • How did your appearance, body language and communication come across?

  • Where is there room for improvement (e.g. in answers, structure, self-presentation)?

The aim is to give participants confidence, make their strengths visible and prepare them specifically for real job interviews.

Über den Tellerrand kochen München e.V.

Über den Tellerrand kochen München e.V. ("cooking outside the box") promotes the personal exchange between people of different cultural backgrounds. In cooking events both get to know each other on eye level which actively shapes a sustainable and successful integration process. How exactly does this work? We organize events in which 20-30 participants with and without refugee experience cook and eat together. Usually we cook traditional dishes from the home countries of the refugee participants, who can share something about their culture. The events are organized by volunteers of our community and financed by donations and funding from the city of Munich. By involving both refugees and locals in the organization of the events, we motivate both sides to jointly shape the integration process. This promotes intercultural competences and enables social and cultural participation for refugees.
