About the volunteering opportunity
In our weekly workshop "Finding homes together", refugees learn the most important information about finding accommodation in Leipzig. After a short input, we set up apartment search apps on their cell phones with the participants, search for apartments together and write application texts for apartments. The aim of the workshop is for the participants to apply for suitable apartments independently and arrange viewing appointments.
Your Tasks
- Supervision of the meeting place together with a full-time staff member
- support with installing apps and searching for accommodation online
- coaching when writing inquiries
- Optional: Interpreting the short presentation
- Optional: Housing search mentorship for individual clients
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity you don't need any German skills.
- Availability on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 pm
- Language skills are an advantage, but not a must (especially German, Arabic, Farsi, Russian, Ukrainian and Spanish)
- Enjoy contact with people

The workshop "Finding homes together" takes place every Wednesday from 1 - 3 pm. If you can't be there every week, we can also arrange a 2-week or monthly rhythm.

The Housing Contact Point has been advising and supporting refugees in their search for their own housing in Leipzig and answering questions about tenancies since 2016. Our services counteract structural barriers such as language, bureaucracy and racial discrimination on the housing market.
