About the volunteering opportunity
The nursing home am Plänterwald offers 140 residents with care grades I to V a home in Treptow-Köpenick. The residents appreciate the lively and sociable atmosphere in the home: many different events enrich everyday life.
Can you sing, play the guitar or keyboard?
From January 2025, we are looking for a volunteer to sing and make music together with the residents. Usually 20 - 25 residents take part in these choir meetings.
Music is said to have a positive effect on people with dementia.
Singing is helpful for dementia in many ways.

Your Tasks
You support the work of the team at the Plänterwald care home
You create a pleasant atmosphere that makes the residents feel good and relaxed. Then you can sing folk songs together. This creates wonderful moments for the residents that make them feel good and give them fond memories.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
- To join us, you must be at least 16 years old
- An affinity for music
- You play an instrument and/or like to sing
- Ideally you have experience with music
- You must be reliable
- Ability to work in a team
- Interest and pleasure in being together with older people
Time required
regularly, 1 or 2 times a month, preferably on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, 3.00 - 4.30 p.m

We regularly offer you free further and advanced training for your social commitment, for example: "Wheelchair training for accompanying people with mobility impairments" and "Understanding dementia - validating interaction with people with dementia". You can find out more on our website.
