About the volunteering opportunity

The AGA is committed to elephant conservation in various regions. With this project, the AGA also wants to contribute to the protection of elephants threatened with extinction in Germany. Elephants can be protected by our behaviour, for example by buying fair trade goods. At the elephant exhibition, children and adults learn about the living conditions of the animals and how each and every one of us can contribute to their protection. The committed people are to be deployed in the field of environmental education in Germany.

Your Tasks

Elephant Ambassadors should become active in protecting elephants and show the Elephant and Fair Trade exhibition in their region in schools, at university, at a day of action, etc. We are looking forward to many active people, who would like to create a great event with our elephant mascot Maktao, e.g. combined with a painting event, handicraft event, play afternoon or similar.

The elephant exhibition can be borrowed from us free of charge. Of course we are happy to help with tips and ideas for painting, handicrafts and play activities.

Aktionsgemeinschaft Artenschutz (AGA) e.V.

The Aktionsgemeinschaft Artenschutz (AGA) e.V. has been committed to the conservation of endangered animal and plant species and their habitats for 30 years. The AGA is internationally active to promote the protection and conservation of nature, to increase environmental awareness and to prevent the destruction of the basis of life of humans, animals and plants.

In order to be able to implement its projects sustainably, the AGA works together with competent local partner organisations worldwide. The AGA's projects include, for example, the protection of sea turtles threatened with extinction, the rearing of elephant and cheetah orphans or the protection of brown bears in Romania and foxes in Germany. In order to develop effective and scientifically based protection measures, the AGA also carries out basic research. For example, research is being conducted into the distribution areas of koalas and penguins in order to better protect them there. With constructive conservation concepts the AGA contributes to the solution of existing human-wildlife conflicts, for example by using guard dogs to protect the cheetahs. By designating protected areas and tree planting campaigns, the AGA also works to preserve the habitat of endangered species.

In order to raise awareness of endangered species and their habitats, the AGA produces extensive exhibitions with appropriate teaching materials, which can be borrowed free of charge. More information can be found at www.aga-artenschutz.de/umweltbildung.html
