About the volunteering opportunity
With our Yadan Biad (=Hand in Hand in Arabic) project, we at the German Red Cross KV Schöneberg-Wilmersdorf e.V. want to get people from the neighborhood to accompany refugees on their various paths into our society.
Our aim is to shape integration together and, by accompanying refugees, to help them reach their destination more quickly, stay motivated and not feel alone.
Your Tasks
We are looking for people who are interested in cooking regularly with a group of unaccompanied underage refugees aged 14-17. After a detailed training, you would accompany or lead the group program. All materials and ingredients are provided and there are no limits to your creativity. Together with the refugees, you decide whether you want to cook specialties from the young people's respective countries of origin, make German recipes or create American-style fries and chicken wings ...
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
We are looking for volunteers who would like to accompany unaccompanied young refugees with heart and commitment. Whether you are young or young at heart, if you are motivated and want to make a positive impact on the lives of unaccompanied refugee minors, you have come to the right place.
We are looking for:
- Long-term commitment for at least 6 months, but ideally longer
- Openness, curiosity and respectful interaction at eye level
- Commitment, personal responsibility and reliability
Ideally, you should have knowledge of Arabic, Farsi, Dari or French.
Time required
Regularly
Approx. 3 hours per week.
On weekdays
Tuesdays from 4 to 7 p.m. (excluding illness / vacation, emergencies, etc.)

We bring people together who fit together as well as possible and share common interests or goals. We work closely with two shelters in Schöneberg for refugee women and their children and provide close and professional support for both refugees and volunteers.

We are currently looking for women who would like to support young refugee women on their way to a new life. From park mornings with children, excursions, support with formalities to cooking together, everything can be included. We are looking forward to meeting you!
