About the volunteering opportunity

in the mentoring project of our MARIE volunteering office, people from Berlin who want to support other people come together in 1:1 mentoring. We are looking for people who would like to accompany refugees or other people in need of support and make it easier for them to settle into a new environment. Personal contact at eye level in particular helps people to get to know each other better and learn from each other. Prejudices can be broken down and replaced by shared experiences.

We offer you: full-time contact persons, regular information, invitations to joint activities and events, proof of commitment, reimbursement of (BVG) travel expenses if required.

Your Tasks

We are currently looking for several people who would like to support children in the 1st and 2nd grade at the Hermann-von-Helmholtz-Schule in southern Neukölln in learning to read.
As a reading mentor, you meet regularly with a schoolchild to support the child in practicing and improving their reading skills by reading aloud.
The meetings should preferably take place directly at school, between 10:00 and 12:15.

Please contact us to discuss details.
