About the volunteering opportunity

For the scholarship holders of our ikimiz mentoring, we are looking for committed people from interesting professional fields who want to pass on their knowledge from their professional life.

In the ikimiz mentoring, young adults or young people of Turkish origin accompany a school child with a similar background and support them on their educational path. Our scholarship holders themselves are on their way to university or professional life and are supported by us in the form of a scholarship and mentoring by personalities from the professional world. This is where you come in!

You advise the DTF scholarship holders as mentors and are available to them as personal advisors with your life and professional experience. The mentees can confidently turn to their mentors in questions of education and career, but also in questions of personal orientation and development. For their part, the mentors gain insights from the mentees into the educational and study situation of young people from immigrant families and into the specific questions facing the young generation in Germany today.

Your Tasks

The mentors can assume the following roles vis-à-vis their mentee:

- As an advisor, they discuss the personal and professional goals of their mentee and advise him/her on how these can be achieved in concrete steps.

- As an initiator, they point out new perspectives, set impulses for goals and development paths, point out underdeveloped abilities of the mentee and strengthen his/her ideas and initiatives.

- As a knowledge mediator, they give their opinion on specific questions, advise the mentee on sources of information and contribute their own knowledge and experience.

- As a contact person, they take their mentee to events, for example, and thus open up new horizons and social approaches for him/her.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.

We are currently looking for two dedicated mentors from the following fields for our project:

  • 1.Business studies: We are looking for a mentor who has ideally studied business studies and can give our mentee tips for the time after the bachelor's degree. This applies in particular to support and advice in the decision-making process and the search for the right career or further study choice.
  • 2.(Digital) Management: We are looking for a mentor from the field of management - ideally also specifically from the digital field. Experience in the field of consulting and coaching as well as business start-ups would also be ideal and would certainly help our mentee.
