About the volunteering opportunity
The Bahnhofsmission is a contact point for anyone who needs help in the station area. This includes travelers in emergency situations as well as people with social or psychological difficulties. Every day, the staff at the Bahnhofsmission am Zoo meet around 600 people seeking help!
Your Tasks
You welcome guests to the Bahnhofsmission at the Zoo and manage admission. As part of the team, you will serve food and drinks to guests. Your tasks also include washing dishes and making sandwiches. If requested, you will provide guests with information and brochures. You will also accept donations at the door and keep the clothing store of the Bahnhofsmission in a tidy condition.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
You are open and empathetic towards homeless people and their life situations. You maintain an overview, enjoy working in a team and are reliable. You also have a sense of order and accept existing structures. And very importantly, you have an open ear for our guests and treat them as equals.
Time required
We are looking for a regular commitment, e.g. 1 - 2 times a week.
When: daily from 07:30 a.m. -1:00 p.m., 10:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. -6:30 p.m.
Important notice
You must be at least 18 years old for this voluntary position. You have a good knowledge of German. Other language skills are also welcome. Proof of measles vaccination and a Red Card are also required. There are no costs for the documents.
Expected attitude: You are convinced that every human being is given an inalienable dignity. You have a respectful attitude towards the Christian faith and other religions and world views.
