Become host of a Welcome Dinner in Hamburg!

At a welcome dinner, you invite Hamburg residents or people who have recently arrived to your home for dinner. Whether it's a classic evening meal with cheese and sausage, your favorite recipe or a 3-course menu, you cook whatever you enjoy and taste good, because the focus is on the encounter.

Welcome dinners are special encounters over dinner together. As an association, we bring people who speak different levels of German together at their own kitchen table. Welcome dinners are opportunities to make new contacts and gain insights into the daily lives of other people. In this way, we break down barriers, promote exchange and strengthen social cohesion in the city.

Your Tasks

1. Sign up on our website or write to us here at vostel.de.
2. You will be guided through the registration process in simple steps
3. A team of volunteers will then bring hosts and guests together.

Time required

Time flexible. You can decide yourself about when you want to host a dinner.  

Welcome Dinner - these are encounters at eye level. People with and without refugee experience or migration history meet for dinner together at the kitchen table. In this way, we want to make it easier for newcomers to gain access to our society and at the same time enable Hamburger citizens to get to know each other.
