About the volunteering opportunity
The project "Bärenstark ins Leben" of our professional association SkF supports families with young children in stressful life situations. We are looking for volunteers to assist families in everyday life, about 1 - 5 hours per week. With this project, we offer young families concrete support and relief through volunteer family mentors.
Your Tasks
For example, in the first period after the birth, feelings of stress and overwhelm are often mixed in with the joy about the new family member. Here it is important to provide active help quickly and unbureaucratically. The voluntary family mentors relieve young families over a predetermined period of time. The support offered by the Mentor is tailored to the specific needs of the family.
The volunteers:
- Listen and encourage
- Support with their skills and experience
- Support in caring for the children
- Ease the burden of everyday life
- Accompany if necessary to medical and administrative visits
- Explore together with the family leisure opportunities and offers in the area

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.

Important notice
The family Mentors are professionally prepared for their task by a training and technically supported in the exercise of their activity by a social worker, they are insured and travel expenses are reimbursed.

The youngcaritas Berlin belongs to the Caritasverband für das Erzbistum Berlin e.V. and promotes young people's commitment. Our goal is to introduce young people to politically and socially "explosive" topics and to teach them a more attentive and conscious use of environmental resources, both through theoretical input and through practical implementation. The goal of youngcaritas Berlin is to win as many young people as possible for voluntary work, be it for the youngcaritas projects "Kulturbuddys", *vergissmeinnicht* or through counselling and placement in various institutions and projects.
