AbilityAid: Support for people with disabilities and newcomer background

AbilityAid offers a free counseling service for people with disabilities and a newcomer or migration background. In addition, inclusive computer courses (Word, Excel, Internet) and German exercise courses are offered. The aim is to support refugees with disabilities in their integration process.

During mentoring sessions, you’ll help your mentee, for example, practice reading and writing (for those who are illiterate), practicing German, finding an inclusive or special-education preschool or school, filling out applications (for a severe disability ID card or care level designation), or dealing with other everyday challenges. This requires approximately 2 hours per week, ideally for at least 3 months. The specific goals of the mentoring program will be defined and discussed with you at the beginning.

You should take part in a three-hour introductory qualification course (in the form of a webinar) and you have the opportunity to attend free training courses at the ArrivalAid Academy. For your commitment as a mentor, you should have the time and motivation to accompany your mentee for about two hours per week for three months. 

The mentoring is intended for a period of 3 months.
