About the volunteering opportunity

The hostel for homeless people in Berlin-Marzahn offers about 160 places for people in social distress, especially for families and vulnerable women who have been victims of domestic violence, as well as for people with mobility impairments.

For assistance in accompanying people, families from the facility to job centres and other authorities, we look forward to support from volunteers.

Your Tasks

  • You accompany individuals, families to job centers and other government agencies
  • You help formulate and represent people's concerns and needs
  • You assist in reducing people's fears and anxieties about government agencies and in realizing people's rights

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.

  • To get involved, you must be at least 16 years old
  • Patience, empathy and openness to the life situation of families, individuals in the facility
  • Access to disadvantaged people, families with refugee/migration experiences
  • Enjoyment of communication
  • Previous experience in dealing with authorities
  • Desirable: a foreign language
